Suns Welcome Darryl Stinson as Boys Director for New Era

The MN Suns are excited to announce that Darryl Stinson has accepted the role of Boys Basketball Director, effective immediately. In this leadership position, Coach Stinson will oversee all boys teams within the Suns organization, focusing on player development, coaching mentorship, program growth, and community engagement.

Darryl brings a wealth of coaching experience to the MN Suns, having worked at both the high school and college levels and is known for emphasizing a holistic approach — prioritizing not just athletic performance but also academic success, character development, discipline, and leadership in his players.

Vision & Goals

In his new role, Coach Stinson aims to build upon the MN Suns’ reputation for excellence, with key priorities including:

  • Player Development: Establishing a structured, year-round curriculum focusing on skill fundamentals, basketball IQ, strength & agility training, and mental toughness.
  • Coach Mentorship: Providing training, feedback, and resources for Suns coaches to ensure consistency in coaching philosophy and high quality instruction across all age levels.
  • Program Expansion & Competitiveness: Expanding the reach of the MN Suns AAU program, recruiting talented players locally, increasing exposure to high-level competition, and helping players achieve opportunities at the high school and college levels.
  • Character & Community Engagement: Ensuring that athletes grow as individuals off the court, contributing positively to their communities, and balancing academics with athletics.
