About
Troy Bell made his mark early as one of Minnesota’s top high school players. He was a Mr. Basketball Finalist in 1999 after a standout career at the Academy of Holy Angels. He finished his high school career as the school’s all-time scoring leader with 2,491 points in 97 high school games. At Boston College, he became one of the most decorated players in program history. Bell was a two-time Big East Player of the Year (2001, 2003), three-time First-Team All-Big East selection, and left as the all-time leading scorer at both Boston College and in the Big East Conference at the time, finishing with over 2,600 career points. He also earned AP All-American honors and was known for his scoring, leadership, and toughness. Internationally, Bell represented the United States in 2001, helping Team USA capture the Gold Medal at the World University Games. Selected in the first round of the 2003 NBA Draft (16th overall) by the Boston Celtics, Bell went on to play in the NBA with the Memphis Grizzlies before building a successful pro career overseas in Italy, Spain, Turkey, and Argentina where he became a respected veteran guard.
